Thank you to “Cohen Partners” for their generous contribution. Barry Cohen and friends took fourth place in the New York/New Jersey annual Chubb Charity Golf Challenge and named The Creative Center as the recipient of their prize. White Paper The Center Colloquium Group are a diverse group of Arts in Healthcare administrators and practitioners from all over the country. The group consists of artists, art educators, social workers, art therapists, museum professionals physicians and administrators who share a passion for and dedication to advancing the field of Arts in Healthcare. The first colloquium convened at The Creative Center in New York in June of 2004 and it did not take long to notice the value of the professional and personal sharing that occurred. The Initial meeting was so inspiring that with continued generous support of Bristol-Myers Squibb and The Creative Center, the Colloquium Group gathered once again a year later. As a result of that meeting, it was agreed that it would be valuable to the members and others, to create White Paper No. 1, Arts in Healthcare Programs and Practitioners: Sampling the Spectrum in the US and Canada. Lance Armstrong Foundation "Still Life": A Documentary Photography Project for Cancer Survivors With generous support from The Lance Armstrong Foundation, selected Creative Center participants will worked for many months developing a digital photo documentary that tells their personal stories of survivorship. Working with Photographer-in-Residence Karen Furth, as well as educators and curators from the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, each participant produced a portfolio of twenty prints, which document their daily lives, a selection of which appeared in the inaugural exhibit at The Creative Center Gallery. That exhibit has now traveled to venues across the US, appearing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Johnson and Johnson in NJ, Pfizer in NYC, United Healthcare in Connecticut, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Feist Weiller Cancer Center in Shreveport, LA and the Lance Armstrong Foundation in Austin, TX. The traveling exhibit is available to venues free-of-charge (shipping only) and is available as a museum-framed exhibit or mounted on foam core. Please contact Robin Glazer, Director: rglazer@thecreativecenter.org for more information.
A book, "Still Life", featuring the photo essays of all participants, as well as text and a study guide, has been published by Umbrage Books (April 2007).
